GOBBLE, GOBBLE

Our traditional holiday feast of turkey prompts the exploration of the word “gobble.”  Like most English language words, it has several meanings.  One is the sound that a turkey makes, but only the male makes this kind of sound.  The female makes a clicking noise.  The word gobble also describes what most of us do when seated at a table laden with so many delicious foods – we hastily devour, gorge, gulp, scarf and just plain stuff ourselves.  After the meal, all the sports fans rush to various media sources to gobble up the latest news on their favorite football teams and who is going to the next bowl game.   Our Rhymes & ‘Nyms™ family wishes all of you a safe and Happy Thanksgiving
